About the Weblog
- This weblog is mainly for hedgehog lovers and mostly for fun. At first, I collected hedgehogs because I thought they were cute. When I began to learn more about the little creatures, I found they are becoming endangered in the wild due to habitat destruction and accidental death by cars and farm machinery. My wish is to bring some happiness and amusement to others who also love hedgehogs. In addition, I hope that more people will learn about the plight of these harmless little animals, and do what they can to protect them.

ANNOUNCING THE ADVENTURES OF ALFIE AND ELIZA HEDGEHOG (a story blog for children)
Today I am beginning a story blog for children. The characters in the stories are Alfie and Eliza Hedgehog and their many friends in the houseful of hedgehogs. The stories will appear in links within my posts.
I came up with the idea as a way to keep in touch with our little grandson who lives out of town. I am inviting all my friends and relatives with little children to join in. As a viewer of my blog, you are also invited to read the stories to your little ones. I am hoping to have a new chapter bi-weekly or at least monthly.

The Adventures of Alfie and Eliza Chapter One
This is a picture of Alfie and Eliza in the store window in Trier, Germany, where I first saw them. The store was closed, and we did not plan to return to Trier. My husband made a special surprise trip back to Trier so we might possibly rescue them, and I've been so happy to have them ever since!

- Thanks to a chance meeting, my book found its illustrator. In Stratford-upon-Avon, my husband and I met a British man who happens to live in the US. We eventually reunited in Florida, where I met his wife Nancy. During our first conversation, she said, "I've always wanted to illustrate a children's book." Luckily, I had written one!
